The (informative) Background chapter provides an opportunity for a more effective graphical depiction of the subject matter. In particular, Figure 1 shows a taxonomy of global grids, referring to grid types using names that are likely to be unfamiliar to many readers. Graphic views of global grids are both attractive and informative. I strongly suggest adding additional figures illustrating the principle and diversity of global grids, to complement the discussion in this section.
