- GeoTIFF
Coverage Encoding Extension

PART B

1. Requirement: 1
2. Implementation Specification Section number: 6.3.1 GetCoverage request
3. Criticality: Minor
4. Comments/justifications for changes:

It would be better if the geotiff extension elements in the GetCoverage
request
could be organized under a single top level element instead of being just
randomly
put in wcs:extension like proposed.
The request would change from this:

<wcs:GetCoverage
  xmlns:wcs="http://www.opengis.net/wcs/2.0"
  xmlns:wcsgeotiff="http://www.opengis.net/wcs/geotiff/1.0"
  xmlns:gml="http://www.opengis.net/gml/3.2"
  xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
  xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.opengis.net/wcs/2.0
http://schemas.opengis.net/wcs/2.0/wcsAll.xsd
http://www.opengis.net/wcs/geotiff/1.0
http://schemas.opengis.net/wcs/geotiff/1.0/wcsGeotiff.xsd"
  service="WCS"
  version="2.0.1">
  <wcs:Extension>
    <wcsgeotiff:compression>JPEG</wcsgeotiff:compression>
    <wcsgeotiff:jpeg_quality>75</wcsgeotiff:jpeg_quality>
    <wcsgeotiff:predictor>None</wcsgeotiff:predictor>
    <wcsgeotiff:interleave>pixel</wcsgeotiff:interleave>
    <wcsgeotiff:tiling>true</wcsgeotiff:tiling>
    <wcsgeotiff:tileheight>256</wcsgeotiff:tileheight>
    <wcsgeotiff:tilewidth>256</wcsgeotiff:tilewidth>
  </wcs:Extension>
  <wcs:CoverageId>grey</wcs:CoverageId>
  <wcs:format>image/tiff</wcs:format>
  <wcs:mediaType>multipart/related</wcs:mediaType>
</wcs:GetCoverage>

To this:

<wcs:GetCoverage
  xmlns:wcs="http://www.opengis.net/wcs/2.0"
  xmlns:wcsgeotiff="http://www.opengis.net/wcs/geotiff/1.0"
  xmlns:gml="http://www.opengis.net/gml/3.2"
  xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
  xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.opengis.net/wcs/2.0
http://schemas.opengis.net/wcs/2.0/wcsAll.xsd
http://www.opengis.net/wcs/geotiff/1.0
http://schemas.opengis.net/wcs/geotiff/1.0/wcsGeotiff.xsd"
  service="WCS"
  version="2.0.1">
  <wcs:Extension>
    <wcsgeotiff:parameters>
      <wcsgeotiff:compression>JPEG</wcsgeotiff:compression>
      <wcsgeotiff:jpeg_quality>75</wcsgeotiff:jpeg_quality>
      <wcsgeotiff:predictor>None</wcsgeotiff:predictor>
      <wcsgeotiff:interleave>pixel</wcsgeotiff:interleave>
      <wcsgeotiff:tiling>true</wcsgeotiff:tiling>
      <wcsgeotiff:tileheight>256</wcsgeotiff:tileheight>
      <wcsgeotiff:tilewidth>256</wcsgeotiff:tilewidth>
    </wcsgeotiff:parameters>
  </wcs:Extension>
  <wcs:CoverageId>grey</wcs:CoverageId>
  <wcs:format>image/tiff</wcs:format>
  <wcs:mediaType>multipart/related</wcs:mediaType>
</wcs:GetCoverage>

Rationale: a request using more than one extension could use elements
coming from other
extensions intermingled with the geotiff ones, whilst the suggested layout
is better
organized and has a better likeliness to match the object model mapping the
above request in memory, in an object oriented programming language.
